Meet Mr Byte

The Robot Who Reads The Small Print.

Mr Byte is TopServer.Network's checker. He reads each game server host's own website and order pages for the facts you compare: prices, player slots, RAM, storage, CPU and locations. Every value carries the date he last confirmed it, so you can see how fresh it is.

How our comparison data stays current

Their Words, KeptWe store what the host's site says alongside our tidy version of it.
Dated Every Time"Mr Byte checked" shows the day a value was last confirmed.
No GuessingIf a host doesn't say something, we show "Not stated".
Polite By DesignA few pages a day at most, and robots.txt is always respected.
01

What Mr Byte Checks

For each host and game he reads the games on offer, the price, the player slot range and price steps, the RAM included and upgrade prices, storage, CPU, server locations and any location surcharges, billing-term discounts, cluster add-ons and paid extras.

The headline price is the monthly price of the cheapest setup you can actually buy, with no long-term commitment. Longer-term discounts and promotions are shown separately, never mixed into it. Where an order page and a sales page disagree, the order page wins.

Prices are kept in the host's own currency. Other currencies are converted at the day's exchange rate and are approximate. Prices are shown as the host states them; any VAT or sales tax due is between you and the host.

02

How Fresh It Is

"Mr Byte checked" with a date means Mr Byte confirmed that value on the host's site on that day. If he can't confirm a value for two weeks, the stamp says it is out of date rather than quietly showing it as current.

A failed or empty check never wipes a value: the last confirmed value stays, and its date keeps ageing. Big changes, such as a price jumping or a currency switching, wait for a person at TopServer.Network to review before they appear.

For Hosting Providers

Mr Byte reads public pages the same way a customer comparing plans would. His requests normally carry the user agent TopServerByteBot with a link to this page.

He follows your robots.txt. If it asks bots not to read a page, Mr Byte does not read it by any means, and anything that only appears there is kept up to date by hand instead. He visits each page at most once a day, with pauses between requests.

He never signs in, places orders, starts trials or submits forms. Reviews and Trustpilot scores are not his job: they are checked by hand. And he has no say in rankings: paid placement never changes the order of our comparisons.

Something wrong or out of date? Tell us and we will correct it; Mr Byte confirms the fix on his next check.
