Hosting an ARK: The Survival of the Fittest server
ARK: The Survival of the Fittest is a spin-off of ARK: Survival Evolved from Studio Wildcard, released as its own game on Steam in August 2017. Up to 60 players fight on a simplified version of The Island, building dinosaur armies and closing in on a final showdown.
Crafting is cut back so players reach the creature fights faster, and Commander Mode gives a top-down view for directing your army. It has solo and tribe modes, Steam Workshop support and a level editor, so community servers can run their own maps and rules.
What to compare
Capacity for full matches. A 60-player match with dinosaur armies needs solid CPU and memory, so compare resources, not just slots.
Mod support. Check you can install Workshop content and edit server settings yourself.
Restarts between rounds. Matches end and reset, so look for scheduled restarts and quick start-up times in the control panel.
Location. Pick a datacentre close to most of your players to keep ping low.
