Hosting an Assetto Corsa Competizione server
Assetto Corsa Competizione is Kunos Simulazioni's GT racing simulator, published by 505 Games and built around the GT World Challenge with GT3, GT4 and other GT classes. Private servers are where leagues, endurance events and practice nights run, and on PC they need the ACC dedicated server. If you are after the original game's servers, see Assetto Corsa server hosting, which uses different tools.
The ACC server is a Windows application configured entirely through JSON files: configuration.json for ports and connections, settings.json for the server name, passwords and entry requirements, and event.json for the track, sessions and weather. The files must be saved as UTF-16, which trips up a lot of first-time admins editing by hand.
What to compare
- A config editor or full file access. Race weekends are set in JSON, so look for a panel with a session builder or direct file access that keeps the encoding right.
- Entry list support. Leagues use entrylist.json to lock car numbers, liveries and driver line-ups. Check you can upload and edit it.
- Event rules. Mandatory pit stops, pit windows, refuelling and stint times live in the event rules file, which matters for endurance races.
- Grid size. On private servers the number of cars is limited by the track's pit boxes, so a bigger plan will not add slots past that.
- Stable CPU and network. Rubber-banding in a close GT3 pack ruins a race.
- Location. Choose a datacentre near most of your drivers for fair, low-latency racing.

Assetto Corsa Competizione server hosting FAQ
How many cars can an ACC server hold?
It depends on the track. Private servers are limited by the number of pit boxes, so the grid varies from circuit to circuit.
Can console players join a PC ACC server?
No. ACC crossplay covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and PC stays separate. Hosted servers are for the PC version.
Does ACC support mods or custom tracks?
No. Unlike the original Assetto Corsa, ACC runs only its official cars and tracks, with custom liveries the main exception, so hosting is about configuration rather than content uploads.
Can I host an ACC server for free?
Yes, if you own the game. The Assetto Corsa Competizione Dedicated Server is included as a Steam tool for owners and runs on Windows. It is only online while that PC is on, so leagues usually rent one.
