How to Promote Your Conan Exiles Server

Conan Exiles players pick servers by filtering the in-game server browser by region, community type and PvP mode, then by reading server listing sites and adverts on Funcom's forums and Reddit. To fill your server, set those filters correctly, give the server a name that says what it is, and send every interested player to a Discord that answers their questions. Conan's server list holds thousands of servers. A new server with an unclear name sits at the bottom of it, so promote yours rather than waiting to be found.

Know What Kind Of Server You Run

Conan players are split into clear groups, and most only look at one kind of server. Decide which group you are for and say so everywhere:

• PvP, PvE or PvE-Conflict. PvE-Conflict allows combat at set times but protects buildings.
• Roleplay or not. Roleplay communities usually have lore, character rules and an application or whitelist.
• Vanilla or modded, and which major mods, such as a large map or a roleplay overhaul.
• Rates: harvest, XP and thrall conversion speeds.
• Wipes: whether the server wipes and how often.
• Region, so players can judge their ping.

Then write it as one line you can reuse: "EU roleplay server, PvE-Conflict weekends, light QoL mods, 2x harvest, no wipes, friendly staff."

Set The Filters Players Search With

Conan's server browser lets players filter by region and community type, so a server with the wrong values is hidden from exactly the players you want.

Both files are in ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\WindowsServer on a Windows server. Most hosts show these as boxes in their control panel; edit them with the server stopped, or your changes may be overwritten when it shuts down.

Choose the community type honestly. A roleplay server listed as Purist fills with players who leave when they find out, and a Purist server listed as Role Playing never reaches the players it wants.

For the name, lead with what a player filters for: region, then your brand, then the type. "[EU] Byte's Exiles | RP | PvE-C" tells a player more at a glance than "Byte's Exiles".

Regulars can save your server in their Steam favourites: in Steam, open View, then Game Servers, then Favorites, click + and enter your IP with the query port, such as 203.0.113.42:27015.

Build A Home Base On Discord

Every advert should send players to one place that holds the details. For Conan communities that is nearly always a Discord server.

Give it:

• How to join: server name, IP and query port, and your mod list. Share the mods as a Steam Workshop collection so players can subscribe to all of them in one click before joining.
• Rules, including raid times on PvE-Conflict and PvP servers, and building limits.
• Your settings: rates, purge settings, thrall limits and the wipe schedule.
• For roleplay servers: your lore, character rules and how to apply.
• Announcements for restarts, mod updates and events, and a support channel to reach an admin.

List Your Server On Server Sites

Server listing sites rank servers by votes and show live player counts, which new players use to judge whether a server is active.

• TopConanServers is a server list just for Conan Exiles. Add your server with a description and tags, and ask players to vote.
• BattleMetrics tracks Conan servers through Steam, so yours will usually appear on its own. Check its page is right and link to it as proof your server is busy.
• TrackyServer lists servers for many games and ranks them by votes.

Thank players who vote, with an in-game reward if your mods support one. Votes move you up the lists, and a server near the top gets more clicks.

Post Adverts Where Conan Players Look

Read each board's rules before you post, and post your server once with updates in the same thread rather than new copies.

A good Conan advert covers:

• A title with the facts: "[PC] [EU] Byte's Exiles: RP, PvE-Conflict weekends, light mods, no wipes".
• What makes the server different: a custom map, a story arc, events, an active staff team.
• Your settings: mode, rates, mods, wipes, and whether you need an application.
• How to join: server name, IP and your Discord link.
• Screenshots of builds, events or roleplay scenes from your server.

Keep New Players Once They Arrive

• Help them through the first night. A welcome area, a starter kit or a staff member who says hello stops new players quitting after their first death.
• Run events. Roleplay storylines, purge nights, building contests and arena fights give players a reason to log in.
• Be honest about change. Announce mod changes and wipes well in advance in Discord.
• Deal with problems fast. On PvP servers in particular, a quick, fair response to rule-breaking keeps the rest of the server playing.

Avoid Promotion That Gets You Banned

• Do not spam the same advert across boards or post it in other servers' Discords.
• Do not inflate your player count with idle accounts or bots. Players and listing sites notice.
• Do not buy votes or trade votes with other servers. Listing sites remove servers that do.
• Do not present your server as official or imply Funcom runs it.
