Hosting an ICARUS server
ICARUS is a co-op survival game built around missions called prospects on a hostile alien planet. Its dedicated servers are designed so a group can keep a prospect going and drop in and out on their own schedules. This suits groups whose members play at different times, because the world does not depend on one host being online.
What to check
- Prospect handling. ICARUS organises play around prospects and their saves. Check that the provider makes it easy to start, resume and back up prospects, and to manage more than one.
- Sensible sizing. Compare RAM and CPU against your real group size. ICARUS supports small co-op groups, so you should not need an oversized plan.
- Storage. Choose a plan with fast storage and enough space for the install, saves and backups.
- Config access. Difficulty, passwords, session options and player limits are set in server files, so look for a panel or direct access.
- Updates. ICARUS receives regular updates, so choose a host that updates the server quickly and keeps it matched to the game version.
- Backups. Progress matters, and automatic backups with simple restores protect it.
- Location. A datacentre near your group keeps the game feeling responsive.

ICARUS server hosting FAQ
Can my group play when the host is offline?
On a dedicated server, yes. The server keeps running independently of any one player.
How big a plan do I need?
For a small co-op group, a modest plan is usually enough. Ask the provider what they recommend for your player count.
What happens after a game update?
The server needs updating to match. A good host does this quickly so your group is not locked out.
