About the 7 Days to Die server list
Where the servers come from
We read Steam's 7 Days to Die server list every few hours and keep the busiest dedicated servers: up to 300 that have had three or more players in at least half of our checks over the last week. Games hosted from a player's own client and servers still using a default name are left out, and a server drops off after 14 days without players.
Difficulty, decoded
Since V3.0, a server keeps its difficulty and game rules in one SandboxCode, and it publishes that code. We decode it with the same table as our SandboxCode generator, which we proved against the V3.2 dedicated server, so each listing can show its XP, loot, blood moons, zombie speeds and every other change from the game's defaults. Servers on other versions show their code's settings once we have checked that version.
Claimed communities
Owners claim a server by putting a short code in its name for a few minutes. Once we see it, they can add a description, rules, wipe plans and a Discord link, and show above unclaimed servers.
How to choose a 7 Days to Die server
PvE or PvP
Each listing shows the player killing mode the server reports, from no killing to kill everyone.
Check the difficulty
For V3.2 servers we decode the SandboxCode: XP, loot, damage, zombie speed and blood moons, as changes from the game's defaults.
Look at the in-game day
A low day count means a fresh world. A high one means established bases and looted towns.
Match the version
Your game must be on the same version as the server. Each listing shows the version it reports.
Open or password
Some communities share a password on their Discord. Use the Open filter to join straight away.
Look at the busiest hours
The player charts show whether a server is busy when you play, not just right now.
7 Days to Die server list FAQ
How is this 7 Days to Die server list ordered?
+
By the players we observe on each server. Claimed communities appear first, then unclaimed servers, busiest first. Sponsored Server placements are labelled and never change this order.
How do you know each server's difficulty?
+
Every 7 Days to Die server publishes its SandboxCode. We decode it with our generator's table, which we checked against the V3.2 dedicated server, and show each setting the server changed from the game's defaults.
Where do the player counts come from?
+
From Steam's server list and the server's own public query. A count older than 15 minutes is not shown: a missing count means unknown, not zero. We never collect player names.
How do I join a server from this list?
+
In 7 Days to Die, choose Join a Game and search for the server name, or connect with the IP address and port on the server page. Your game must be on the same version as the server.
How do I add or claim my 7 Days to Die server?
+
If it is listed, open it and click "Claim this server", then put the short code we give you in ServerName in your serverconfig.xml for a few minutes. As soon as we see it, the server is yours. If it is not listed, use "List Your 7 Days to Die Server" with its IP address and port. Listings are free.
