Hosting a Soulmask server
Soulmask is a survival and tribe-building game from CampFire Studio, published by Qooland Games. You wear an ancient mask that lets you control tribespeople, recruit followers and automate a settlement. It left Early Access with its 1.0 release in April 2026, alongside the Shifting Sands map, and supports co-op and PvP online.
The game ships a dedicated server for Windows and Linux through SteamCMD, and servers can hold up to 70 players. Every tribe brings recruited NPCs who work, fight and haul resources, so AI tribesmen are a big share of the load and a server with many busy tribes needs more CPU and memory than the slot count suggests.
What to compare
- Plenty of RAM. Soulmask's server is heavy compared with many survival games. Check the memory a plan really gives you.
- CPU for NPC-heavy bases. Large automated settlements with dozens of workers stress the processor. Fast cores matter more than extra slots.
- Both maps and clustering. Cloud Mist Forest and Shifting Sands can run as separate servers linked into a cluster so players travel between them. If you want both, check the host supports running two linked servers.
- Settings access. There are over 200 adjustable gameplay settings, plus the choice of PvE or PvP. Look for a panel or file access that exposes them, not just a handful of toggles.
- Workshop mods. Soulmask supports Steam Workshop mods. Confirm the host lets you add mod IDs to the server and that players can match them.
- Backups. Tribes, recruits and automated bases take weeks to build. Automatic backups and easy restores protect that work through updates.
- DDoS protection and location. Public PvP servers attract attacks, and raids are less forgiving with high ping.

Soulmask server hosting FAQ
How many players can a Soulmask server hold?
Up to 70. Many communities run smaller servers because NPC tribesmen add load as each tribe grows.
Can I run mods on a Soulmask server?
Yes. Soulmask supports Steam Workshop mods, which are loaded on the server by their Workshop IDs. Choose a host that lets you manage the mod list.
Can I host a Soulmask server for free?
Yes, if you run the free dedicated server from SteamCMD on your own hardware. It needs a lot of memory, and the world is only online while that machine is on.
Can one server run both Cloud Mist Forest and Shifting Sands?
Each map runs as its own server. Two servers can be linked into a cluster so players move between maps with their characters.
