Hosting a Veloren server
Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG written in Rust and released as open source under the GPL 3 licence. Its developers name Cube World, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft as inspirations, and its art, music and other assets are made by the community. It is not sold on Steam.
The server is a separate program, veloren-server-cli, and the official guide covers running it on a PC, in Docker or on a Raspberry Pi. Multiplayer uses Veloren's authentication server, so players use one account across every server.
What to compare
- Update speed. Veloren is under active development and servers need to match the client version. Check the host updates promptly.
- Settings access. Look for file access so you can change server settings and admin lists yourself.
- Backups. Automatic world backups protect your players' progress.
- Location. Choose a datacentre near your players for smoother combat.
