Hosting a FiveM server
FiveM is a modification framework for Grand Theft Auto V that lets you run your own multiplayer server, and it is mostly used for roleplay. Unlike most games on this site, a FiveM server is built by assembling resources: scripts, vehicles, maps and frameworks. The quality of your server depends as much on what you install as on the hardware it runs on.
What to compare
- Cfx.re license key. Every server needs a license key from Cfx.re. Slot counts above the default limit depend on Cfx.re's own subscription tiers, so check what your target player count requires beyond the hosting itself.
- txAdmin. Many servers use txAdmin for management, restarts and monitoring. Check that the host supports it, since it makes day-to-day running much easier.
- Frameworks and database. Popular roleplay frameworks such as ESX and QBCore typically rely on a MySQL or MariaDB database. Confirm the host provides one, and check the version suits your framework.
- File access. Resources are uploaded and configured through server files, so you want full file access, ideally with an easy way to upload and edit.
- CPU and RAM. Busy roleplay servers with many resources need strong per-core performance and plenty of memory. Compare plans against your resource list and player count.
- Backups. Player data and databases are hard to replace, so automatic backups matter.
- DDoS protection and location. Public servers attract attacks, and a datacentre near your players keeps roleplay smooth.
