Hosting a GROUND BRANCH server
GROUND BRANCH is a tactical realism shooter from BlackFoot Studios, a team led by developers of the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, published by MicroProse. After years in Early Access it reached version 1.0 on 16 July 2026, with further campaign chapters and a dedicated multiplayer update planned. Multiplayer covers 8-player co-op against AI and 8v8 adversarial modes.
The GROUND BRANCH Dedicated Server Tool is free through SteamCMD and runs on Windows. A dedicated server keeps your co-op missions and PvP lobbies up without anyone hosting from their own PC, and lets you set mission rotations, passwords and admin lists through plain-text config files.
What to compare
- CPU for AI. Co-op missions are driven by enemy AI, and that leans on the processor. A fast CPU keeps firefights responsive with a full squad.
- Windows servers. The server tool is Windows-only, so confirm the host runs GROUND BRANCH on a supported setup.
- Config access. Server name, player limit, map and mission rotation and admins are set in config files, so look for direct file access or a capable panel.
- Updates. The 1.0 release is being followed by further updates through 2026 and into 2027, so pick a host that updates the server promptly.
- Mods. The game lists Steam Workshop support, and a mod kit is planned after launch. If you want modded content, check how the host installs it.
- Location. Slow, deliberate CQB still punishes high ping, so choose a datacentre close to your team.
