Hosting a Insurgency server
Insurgency is a tactical close-quarters shooter from New World Interactive, built on the Source engine and released on Steam in January 2014. It is the original game, separate from Insurgency: Sandstorm.
Multiplayer supports up to 32 players across PvP modes such as Push, Firefight and Skirmish, plus co-op modes against AI such as Checkpoint and Hunt. The Steam page lists dedicated server support for Windows and Linux, and custom maps made with the Insurgency SDK are shared on the Steam Workshop.
What to compare
- Slots up to 32. Size the plan to your community, and check whether co-op servers with bots need more CPU.
- Workshop maps. Look for a host that makes it easy to add Workshop maps and set your rotation.
- Right game. Make sure the plan is for Insurgency (2014), not Insurgency: Sandstorm.
- Location. Low ping matters in close-quarters fights, so pick a datacentre near your players.
