Hosting an Unreal Tournament server
Unreal Tournament is Epic Games' 1999 arena shooter, often called UT99, and it is on Steam as the Game of the Year Edition. It offers Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination and Assault, with bots and a built-in server browser for finding online matches.
Server admins can manage a game through command-line options, and community servers still run custom maps and mutators. Fast arena play rewards low latency, so server location matters.
What to compare
- Small, cheap plans. UT99 needs little hardware, so compare the lower-priced plans first.
- Map and mutator support. Check you get file access to upload custom maps and mutators.
- Admin access. Look for direct access to the server's config and command-line options.
- Location. Choose a datacentre close to your players, since fast combat depends on low latency.
